"Not only future generations, but also very local, interested neighbours will profit from the energy transition. VERBUND shares the financial return from the Wallsee-Mitterkirchen PV system with the region. The basis for this is a successful partnership with Raiffeisenkassa Perg. VERBUND stands for decades of competence in electricity, our bank partner for reliability and stability. The "Klimasparen" product is an initial trial run at VERBUND for a regional investment model in renewable energy projects. Others projects should follow across Austria," says member of the VERBUND Executive Board Achim Kaspar.
Together with the director of Raiffeisenkassa Perg, Klaus Drabek, mayor Herbert Froschauer from Mitterkirchen and numerous Klimasparen savers take the opportunity to view "their" photovoltaic system. Member of the VERBUND Executive Board Achim Kaspar and authorised signatory Gustav Krempl (VERBUND Green Power GmbH) led the visitors through the plant with the experts at the Wallsee-Mitterkirchen site.
The PV system on the site of the Danube power plant at Wallsee-Mitterkirchen is an innovation project. The panels align themselves automatically to the sun to supply the optimal electricity yield. On an area of 3 hectares and with a maximum output of 1.7 MW, the plant generates as much as electricity as is consumed by about 600 households every year.
Alongside the PV system and the familiar electricity generation from hydropower, the "Blue Battery" has connected all aspects of renewable energy with a storage facility since 2020.
